ABOUT HIGHAMPTON PRE-SCHOOL

A steering committee was created in October 1995 to form a playgroup provision at Highampton and the doors to a mother and toddler group were opened on Friday 5th January 1996.

In April 1996 we employed our first play leader and the Preschool opened with support from lottery funding.  Sessions increased to 3 per week by September 1996 and we became an accredited Preschool offering places to 3 and 4 year olds.

In January 2001, with the introduction of government funding for 3 year olds, full day care was offered for 2 days a week which was extended to our current 3 days a week in January 2007.  We began to offer places for 2 year olds in September 2013, inline with government 2 year funding.

We have deep appreciation to the committee, staff, organisations and wide community who have had the vision, commitment, dedication and have supported the Preschool over the years.  This has enabled us to build a well established, committee run, and professionally managed Preschool which currently employs experienced, qualified staff, providing sessions over 3 days for children aged 2-4.  Our staff are passionate about offering a safe, happy, caring, nurturing and stimulating environment delivering professional childcare that enables children to reach their potential and become capable learners. 

Based in Highampton Village Hall, just off the A3072 between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy, we are extremely lucky to be positioned in a fabulous rural location with far-reaching views of Dartmoor which are truly breathtaking. 

Positioned off a country lane, next to Highampton CP School, the Village Hall was built in 1994 and offers everything we need for a secure and well-equipped Pre-school, including a free and spacious car park.
